This spring in Mongolia witnesses heavier snowfalls than in the past winter. The thickness of snow coverage in steppe area is 50 cm and in some most critical places it reaches 3 meters. Past weekend numerous national and local auto roads and mountain passes were blocked by heavy snow and 138 individuals were reported lost nationwide. 134 of them were rescued safe, two persons were found dead and two are being rescued. 90 of the lost are herders who’re gone in the snow storm with their livestock. Some small settlements were reported having power failure. Actions are taken to bring medical supply, grass bundles and firewood to herders on move to remote pastures.
