One million trees project launched in Mongolia. The national campaign aims to create healthier environment by planting oxygen-producing trees. Initiated by the Ministry of Environment, Green Development and Tourism, “One Million Trees” national campaign starts this week to increase the public awareness about damages of environmental pollution including air and soil pollution.

The campaign will be conducted in two phases until November including the starting phase of planting trees and continuing with the phase two of watering and taking care of the planted trees. The campaign also encompasses true capacity building as the local population is intimately involved in, and benefits from every step of planting, maintaining and monitoring the growth of trees. Individual citizens are called upon to plant trees in their fences or in nearby parks, while private and public organizations are required to build green areas.
